What are Sexual Dysfunctions?

These disorders cause a person to experience a significant disturbance in the ability to respond sexually or to experience sexual pleasure. There are many things that can affect sexual functioning, from differences in expectations between partners to poor perception of body image and lack of confidence.

What are some signs or symptoms of Sexual Dysfunctions?

In general, most people with anxiety disorders experience a sense of fear and worry. However, there are unique symptoms for each disorder as well.

Premature Ejaculation:

  • Occurs within 1 minute

Erectile Disorder:

  • Difficulty maintaining an erection

Subtance/Medication induced Sexual Dysfunction

  • Caused by other medications / drugs / alcohol

Diagnosis and Treatment:

After a careful clinical evaluation, we will determine which sexual dysfunction you are suffering from and develop a treatment plan that will help you. We will begin treatment with a combination of medication management and psychotherapy. We offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help alter negative thinking patterns that can affect sexual functioning. We can also work to streamline medication management in the case of sexual side effects caused by medications.
